A New Green Project!!

We have a non-profit organization in the works and we want to encourage Professional Green Visionaries to join us, to be part of this ground breaking venture, to educate the general public and businesses to the benefits of being ‘Green’, to the cost savings they can expect. We want to ultimately be a ‘Green’ destination in the Greater Toronto area, to be totally inclusive AND to be a ‘NO GARBAGE ZONE’.

In fact life will be better in so many ways by being green. Health,- less stress, headaches, allergies, better sleep, more alert, breathing better. Time for more relaxation, spend time with the family, play games. More cash for more enjoyable past-times, vacations, hobbies, retirement.

The planet will also benefit, it’s a Win-Win-Win situation.

There is so much Greenwashing going on in advertising that people are very skeptical about going green. Who should they believe? What should they buy? How do they know what to look for? What questions should they ask before making a commitment? How do you know if the green(?) product is really green? There is so much misleading information that most people don’t bother even trying to go green.

If you would like more info on the Green project we have planned please contact me through this email address info@increase-ideas.com

Inexpensive Ways to Go Green!!!

Most people assume going Green is expensive. Truth is going Green can actually save you money!! Here are some tips to try:

1) Instead of expensive sprays to dust furniture use Olive oil mixed with lemon, use a cloth to put the oil on the furniture use another cloth to polish it and bring it to a shine.

2) Don’t use bleach to disinfect children’s things, soak them in warm water and vinegar, usually only twice as much time as the bleach = cheaper, healthier & better for the environment. When you have finished disinfecting use the same vinegar/water mix for cleaning the cupboard doors, or clean the windows. Store extra vinegar & water in an old spray bottle. Or disinfect the bathroom. Save lots, and lots of money.

3) Use a steamer to clean windows, walls, cupboards, bathrooms, sinks, non-wood floors. Spray and wipe dry.

4) Save leftovers of all kinds, try to group them in similar food groups and make a “Mystery Meatloaf,” or “Variety Vegetable Soup” or “Imaginative Deserts”

5) Worn out clothes can be used to make crafty things, such as an old pair of jeans turned into shorts, or sew the cut-offs to make a storage bag... Unique!!

6) T-shirts can be used as dusters, or as fill for home made cushions, or stuffing for teddy bears.

More tips to come...

Indoor Air Quality

Did you know?...

The Indoor Air Quality can make you sick? Did you know The Indoor Air Quality can make you very, very sick?

We spend much of our time, 90%, indoors, especially in winter; did you know that the air we breathe is full of chemicals, dirt or dust particles, contaminants and gases, not to mention air borne cold and flu germs?

We often bring these contaminants into our homes, schools, work-spaces, shopping centres, and other places were people gather. We bring it in on our shoes, we bring it in with our groceries, we bring it in in our cleaning products, we bring it in on our dry cleaning, grocery bags, clothes, plastic containers, hands, perfume, make-up.

Have you ever been house bound because you were sick, had an injury that restricted your movements, ever had cabin fever? After a few moments of being outside breathing fresh air we begin to feel much better, ever wondered why?

We will probably never get rid of all the air borne contaminants, but we can minimize them. Indoor Air Quality testing can pinpoint which chemicals are prevalent in your surroundings, at which time you can eliminate many of the causes. Some of the chemical contaminants are so common we don't consider our surroundings are clean unless we smell the 'clean' in the air. Living in a convenience driven society were time is short, we have replaced 'natural' with convenient, therefore we have 'convenient' disorders and diseases. Allergies have risen almost 600% in the last 20 years. Natural and pure are more time consuming to work, grow, make, find, use, clean, or bake, so to keep up with demand for more fast results, manufacturers have had to make use of preservatives and chemicals; to be cost effective they've manipulated, enhanced, strengthened, softened, lengthened, shortened, darkened, brightened, in effect used everything they could to add convenience to our lives.

In my own opinion, we have conveniently gotten sick, in differing degrees, to feel better we get medication from the doctor, to counter-act the effects of all the conveniences, and maybe other medications to counter-act the medications we are taking to counter-act the conveniences we are using to make our lives easier. It's a catch 22 situation.

Radon is a gas already in the ground and can seep into our homes, or any other building. Radon can be very dangerous, eventually causing death. To correct the problem is very easy, but you need to know it is there first, it is one of those gases that you cannot smell, like carbon monoxide which is another deadly gas. While having the Indoor Air Quality tested you will also be aware areas with high humidity, which can indicate a water leak or you'll see black patches on the wall or ceiling which could lead to or actually be mold, which can also be very deadly. Too much carbon dioxide can cause lethargy, headaches or breathing problems, but this one is very easy to correct - crack open a window for a few minutes to 'clear the air'.

Once the Indoor Air is cleaner, you will also notice that you, your family and everyone else feels more energetic, less sick, more alert, there will be less accidents, happier people all around.

If you want to know what some of these chemicals can cause check out a website by putting chemical related illnesses in the search engine. To get you started try; - chlorine, benzene, asbestos, Teflon, or read your bottle of bathroom cleaner or shampoo.
